What’s the Best Size Snake Cage for Ball Python?

If you’ve spent any time on BallPythonsForSale.net you probably already know the ball pythons for sale will arrive safe and sound in the 15″ – 18″ size. These snakes will do quite well in a 10 gallon glass snake cage. This does not mean you need to rush out and purchase a 10 gallon tank to keep your baby ball python. Your ball python will grow quickly and you’ll need to get a larger tank.

A fully grown ball python, 4′ – 5′ in length, will do best in a 30 gallon snake cage. The dimensions you should be looking for is 36″ x 12″ x 18″. This will allow adequate room for a water source, a heat source , and a ‘cool down’ area. A snake cage needs to vary in temperature across the length of the cage so the snake can regulate it’s temperature throughout the day. A nice 3′ long tank really works best. This size tank will also allow for a nice piece of drift wood so your ball python has a place to climb or hide depending on its mood.

A snake cage much bigger and your ball python may actually get stressed out as it will not want to travel a long distance to the heat source or water source. If you’re planning to use a larger snake cage than the 30 gallon tank make certain there is adequte hiding places for your ball python to feel secure.
